A former Brood War player, Cool was forced to leave progaming to help run his mothers Fruit Stall while his father was ill. After his break from progaming, Cool picked up Starcraft 2 and began to play, quickly becoming a top Zerg player in Korea.

Cool was the first winner of the GSL, taking out IntoTheRainbow (now called HopeTorture), in the finals of the 2010 TG Sambo Intel Starcraft II Open Season 1, 4-1 leaving many to refer to him as the best Starcraft 2 player in the world.

The StarCraft II created the Grapeling, Applelord, and Bananalisk in his honour.
